Obituary of Richard John Faltermeier

RICHARD J. FALTERMEIER    3/23/1932  -  1/4/2020

 

The Life Celebration Service to be held at St. Philip & St. James Episcopal Church,

2797 S. Lowell Blvd.,  Denver 80236 at 11:30. Interment will follow at  Ft.Logan National Cemetery at 1:15.

Dick Faltermeier was born to Bessie & Bill Faltermeier on March 23, 1932 in Shawnee Kansas & passed away surrounded by his family on January 4, 2020.   He lived there with his with his parents, brother's & sister (Bill Jr., Don & JoAnn). They all  moved to Denver before Dick was 2 years old.   He went to Blessed Sacrament and St. Philomena’s grade school, then Cathedral for 9th grade & graduated at East High School.  

Dick joined the National Guard in 1950 & the United States Air Force in 1951 active till September 1952.

Dick married Joanne Hefferly on June 1, 1953, having 3 children, 7 grandchildren, & 10 great grandchildren.  

He went to work at the Denver Post in October of 1952 as District Manager, in 1965 he was promoted to a Supervisor & in 1980 promoted to Zone Manager until his retirement on January 1, 1988.     Survived by his children Dianna, Patti & Rich...  and his grandchildren Melissa, Rebekah, Andrea, Linzi, Joel, Jodi & Jenae... and his great grandchildren Noah, Addie, Dylon, Cooper, Adalyn, Jeremy, James, Jasmine, Jessica & Lila. 

Dick was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather.    

One of his favorite passion’s was traveling with his wife Joanne, doing roads trip around the US & Ports of Call Airline... flying to Mexico because he loved being at the ocean.  He enjoyed the warm water, waves & taking beautiful pictures of sunsets.  

He especially loved his family & friends enjoying get together’s to celebrate & socialize...  

Dick was a loyal Bronco fan, even owning season tickets.  In his leisure time  he loved gardening & keeping his yard manicured.   Also he loved playing the banjo with everyone singing along & he enjoyed reading novels.   

Dick had an amazing sense of humor, very witty & loved joking around to make people laugh & brighten up their day... his big smile was contagious.  

He loved the B-52 Bombers, the Air Force Museums & visited Pearl Harbor a number of times. He was avid classic car buff & he especially liked Mustang‘s, purchasing a 1966 & 1973.    

Dick loved eating spaghetti & meatballs at the Blue Parrot Italian Restaurant & also snacking often on popcorn & then there was his nightly dish of chocolate chip ice cream before bed.

We miss Dick(our father, grandfather & great grandfather) tremendously, but are so happy for him & his Heavenly Home going to be with Jesus his Lord & Savior, our dear momma & all the family & friends that have gone before him❤️
