Obituary of Ervie Lee Mayfield
Ervie L Mayfield was born to Daniel and Beatrice Ann Mayfield on September 14, 1941 in Winona, TX. He was the third of six brothers.
He graduated from Emmett Scott High school in Tyler Texas in 1960 that same year he enlisted in the Unites States Air Force and went to basic training in South Carolina.
When he returned from basic training her married his high School sweetheart Patsy Ruth Smith of Waco, Texas on September 16, 1960.
From their union they produced three children: Anita L Mayfield , Katina D. Wellons and (Kenneth) Tufani S. Mayfield all from Denver, Colorado. Sadly Ervie and Patsy divorced in 1972.
Ervie served honorably in the USAF for over 20 years.
Ervie loved to travel he as visited exotic locals such as Australia, Thailand, Turkey and Germany.
Over the years Ervie loved to handicap race horces and was a big fan of the Kentucky Derby
Over the years Ervie lost contact with his family in Colorado.
In late 2016 the family was notified that Ervie had been hospitalized in Pennsylvania and was suffering from Mid stage Alzheimers . Anita and Tina jumped into action and arrange for Ervie to move back to Colorado by 2017
In Colorado Ervie thrived under the care of his oldest daughter. As Ervie's disease progressed he was moved to Lighthouse Assisted Living where he made friends and enjoy time watching televison and socializing with other residents .
On Friday January 31st Ervie was admitted to Littleton Adventist Hospital on February 4, 2020 at 5:05pm Ervie took his last breath
He was survived by his 3 adult children, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grand children
He will be inturned at Ft. Logan National Cemetery
