Obituary of Marylyn Hepp

Marylyn Hepp beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2020. Marylyn Caldwell Wylie, 84, was born in St. Louis Missouri on February 11, 1936 to John and Betty Wylie. The family moved to Davenport Iowa where her younger sister Jacqueline was born. They later moved to east Denver where she attended Gove Jr High and East High School. She was very active in the International Order of Job’s Daughters. While at East High School, she met and began dating her future husband Bruce Hepp. She graduated from Colorado Women’s College with a degree in Art and English and married Bruce on August 31, 1957. Marylyn accompanied Bruce when he entered active service in the Air Force. They spent time in Florida, Texas, Germany, Spain and various other places in the US before settling permanently in Lakewood. Marylyn was a homemaker and loved being a wife to Bruce and a mom to her 3 children Alan, Valerie and Vicki. She was always involved in the kid’s activities and events, volunteering as a Cub Scout Den Mother, Room Mother, and Girl Scout Leader during the kid’s younger years. As the family grew older, Marylyn became active again in the International Order of Job’s Daughters with her 2 daughters and held the offices of Bethel Guardian and the Grand Guardian of the State of Colorado. She started the Colorado HIKE Choir, a sign language performance group that raises money for hearing devices for children. Under her 35 years of leadership, the Colorado HIKE choir raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. Bruce and Marylyn had a joint hobby making quilts and quilted items that they sold at craft fairs for many years. Marylyn loved to travel anytime she could and took countless trips to Europe, Asia, Australia and throughout the US. After Bruce retired from United Airlines, they spent a great amount of time traveling in their 5th wheel travel trailer visiting the US East Coast, Canada, Texas and California and everywhere in between. Marylyn was active in various Masonic organizations as well as her church.

Marylyn was an avid Colorado Avalanche and Broncos Fan and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved her family, above all Bruce, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Marylyn is survived by her husband Bruce, sister Jacqueline, son Alan (Monica), daughters Valerie (Greg) and Victoria (Michael), Grandchildren David (Courtney), Julie (Patrick), Zachary, Connor, Haley (Carter) and Chris and great granddaughters Celia and Emma.
