Obituary of Leonard Eloy Chavez

Leonard Eloy Chavez 

May 28th,1933 ~ March 7th, 2020 

Born in: Boulder, Colorado 

Resided in: Denver, Colorado 

 

Leonard Chavez, loving father, husband, and grandfather entered eternal life at the age of 86 on March 7th as a result of a long journey with his health. He was born to parents Loyd and Bertha. He is survived by his wife, Virgina Chavez, of 67 years of marriage. They were loving and supportive of their children and grand-children, and they created a lovely family. Leonard served honorably in the U.S Army during the Korean tour. He served as a Corporal where he received a Korean Service Medal with One Bronze Service Star, and a United Nations Service Metal. 

 

He is survived by his four children, Leonard Chavez, Gene Chavez, Glen Chavez, and Lenora Chavez. His grandchildren Rachelle, Yvonne, Lucas, Glen, Jessica, Louis, Analiese and several great grandchildren, as well as recently becoming a great-great grandfather. Leonard loved spending time with his family whether it be holidays, fishing, cookouts, or sharing his love of The Denver Broncos. Leonard is otherwise known as “Pompo” by his family, especially his grandchildren. 

 

Memorial services will be held on Friday March 20th, 2020, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, from 10-11 am.  

 

The memorial service with a Military honoring, and internment ceremony will take place at Mt Olivet at a later date and will be announced when a date is solidified.  

 

The family would like to express their thanks for all of the love and support during their time of mourning and throughout Leonard’s illness. Leonard, “Pompo”, you will be greatly missed.
