I met Mike a little over 40 years ago at the Arvada Associated Modelers airfield. We just hit it off!! Both being Vietnam Vets and having many of the same interests including motorcycles. In 1982, Mike talked me into helping him start precision aerobatic contest at the Arvada club. Better known as pattern flying. Those 2-day contest went on for 10 years. Mike and I drove together to many contests both in and out of state. In 1984, Mike was President and I was Vice-President of the Arvada club. We were able to get many club members into pattern flying, and from what Mike started now, we have many members flying at the national level and again putting on 2-day contests.
Through the years, Mike and I stayed in touch seeing each other whenever we could. On Retirement we started having lunch almost once a week. Then COVID hit and we stayed in touch through email and phone.
I have to say, I never met a man I liked more than Mike. I am very proud to have known Mike and call him a Friend. I will miss Mike dearly.
