Obituary of James R. Drake

   James (Jim) R. Drake, age 65, went to be with the Lord on July 29th in Colorado Springs, Colorado due to complications of radiation enteritis/gastroparesis secondary to testicular cancer. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; Georgann Berkshire, Alva Gene Drake, and step-father; John Hughes, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and son; Tommy. 

Still living is wife; Pamela J. Drake (Hettinger), daughter; Kimberly J. Reardon, son-in-law; Robert Reardon, half brother and sister-in-law; Dave Hughes and Kim Hughes, half brother; Allen Hughes, Connie and Bill (deceased) Kiesling, nephew; Tim, niece; Sara, brother and sister-in-law; George and Ruth Drake, nephews; Chris, Matt, Johnathon, several great nieces and nephews and his best friend from 3rd grade, Russell King. 

He graduated Logansport High School class of 1974.  He joined the USAF in 1983 where he worked on flight simulators as well as  received AF Commendation Medal, AF Good Conduct Medal, AF Achievement Medal, PME Graduate Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, AF Training Ribbon, and AF Longevity Service Award. He served in Desert Storm Shield/Storm area of Responsibility, September 1991 to June 1992, and February 1991 to May 1991, NCO Leadership School. Jim was honorably discharged in July 1992. He was greatly respected while working and managing at Pizza Hut for several years after the Air Force. 

He enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughter and son-in-law (when visiting) and dog(s), camping, evening rides, reading books, watching gunsmoke/old westerns, and spending time with his wife’s family. 

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society, River of Life Church in Logansport and Bristol Hospice of Colorado Springs.  

Graveside service will be in Logansport, Indiana, date has yet to be determined.  

He will be greatly missed.
