Grandma Gen was an amazing grandmother. She always made me feel like she had been impatiently waiting months just to see me. I'll always remember her outrageous shoes, her smile, her obsession with biscotti, and her never changing hair. She loved life and everyone in it, everyone she spoke to was a new friend. I'm so grateful to have been loved unconditionally by such an amazing person. I love you grandma

My Aunt Gen...We miss her so much already. I thought she'd live forever. She never seemed to age and, by golly, her age always stayed the same, 85! Full of energy and love and humor and fun, no wonder she remained so young for so long. She was so many good things; strong willed but kind, funny and adventurous (she had more air miles than anybody), fantastic cook, hard worker, gracious and forgiving, focusing only on the good in people, and more. Thank you to her church family and neighbors that looked out for her so much all these last years. She loved Jesus and she loved you.
My childhood memories are a treasure trove filled with Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays every year (no exception) spent with our Evans family. One holiday at their house, the other at ours. And then reverse the next year. From my earliest recollection this is how it was. So much laughter, joy, holiday spirit, food and love. Games galore. My Aunt Gen is someone that is there in my memory from my entire life. Boy, am I gonna miss her. But only until I am with Him, I know that she will be there too! John Lee

Thanks John. She loved the Lees - loud, fun-loving, always a pleasure to be with. We have memories of the game with your Mom and mine belted together and laughing so hard no one could get them unbelted! The building of the cover wagon that won First prize.I remember endive and eggs and cake rolls. Bebe and Babe..... such a wonderful family to call ours. She and Dad and Janie are together again and we'll be reunited one dayl

I called her Grama Gen. Her daughter is my mom's childhood friend who I call Aunt Joan. Grama Gen was an inspiration. It was surprising to find out how old she was because she never told us but she lived such a full life, traveling to see her children and grandchildren all around the country. She was always cheerful, had a contagious smile and a wonderful sense of humor. I loved her and always felt loved by her. I will miss her. She was an awesome person ❤

My heart is so filled with precious memories of Gen. I’ve known her all my life as the Evans family lived across the street from me in my youth. She and my mom were great friends. My mom was Joan’s OM (Other Mom) and Gen was mine. She was Grandma Gen to my kids. She was kind, sweet, had a great sense of humor, and was happiest when she was helping someone. Rest in Heaven, beautiful soul! We love and miss you. ❤️ - Becky Turner and Family

She just loved being a part of the Turner family. The Holidays weren't complete without Hog Head Day!! She loved frying up those wings, and she and Ruthie were quite a pair. Every Wednesday they'd have dinner together. Together forever - as we all will be one day.

I Love this Precious Lady! She would come to California where I am a coworker of her daughter Joan.
We would sometimes meet for lunch or dinner when she was in town. Such a vivacious personality! Lots of jokes and fun.
She would also give me much appreciated advice on how to rear my 2 daughters in love and patience. I still use the potholder she made for me!
I will truly miss her. ❤ LaJoyce Simon and Family

Mrs. Gen Evans was my sweet neighbor two doors down on York Road in South Bend. As a young child, I remember happy times visiting her at her house, watching fireworks on the 4th of July, playing with the antique telephone hanging in their garage, and admiring the decorations in her home. Once when babysitting for me, we created a pretend old fashioned camera out of a shoebox, black construction paper, glue, a wooden Tinkertoy for a 'lens', and 'photos' that were pictures we clipped out of magazines. Spending time with her was SO much fun. As I grew older, anytime I would see her she would have a smile on her face and had encouraging words to share. My sincere condolences go out to Joanie and Tom. Your mom was certainly a bright light in this world and was loved by all!

Gen was so beautiful and such a kind lady. She came to our McDonald’s on Miami St. South Bend most everyday.
When our lobby was open pre pandemic. She always asked how we was all doing. We will miss her. But as we can see she had a full life. Our Sympathies to her Family from

I have so many memories of meeting Gen when she came to California to visit Joan. She often came to the theatre or to rehearsals when Joan and I were doing Community Theatre together. She had the most irrepressible spirit, brightening any room with her joy and laughter. Her positivity was infectious and everyone loved her! It was obvious, too, that she was incredibly proud of Joan.
My deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time of loss. May her spirit live on in all who knew and lived her.

Our sincerest condolences to all family. We remember our trip to NYC to see the Broadway Play and there were traffic jams everywhere. All the church 4th of July picnics. The chili bake offs

The funny part is I don't think Mom liked Chili all that much. The trip to see you - insisting on buying Hershey chocolate when the temp was over 100. Watching "Miss Congeniality' on your couch. Seeing "42nd Street" was such a thrill. Thank you for being such great hosts and putting up with our travel plans.
