Obituary of Mary Lurine Furnish
Born January 1937 in Shelbina, Missouri to Earl “Ted” and Beulah Lucile Clarkson. She married Donald Ray Furnish from Mexico, Missouri in January 1953 and they were married 68 years. She has three sons Donald (Raylean) Furnish, Steven (Candy) Furnish, Richard Furnish, and one daughter Kathrine (Richard) Wilson. She is preceded in death by Earl “Ted” Clarkson (father), Beulah Lucile Vanskike Clarkson (mother), Beverly Erlene Clarkson (sister), and son Richard Allen Furnish. Besides her husband and children, she has numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She lived her first 16 years in Missouri finishing high school there. Moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming for 16 and a half years and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1973. Lived 8 years in Aurora, Colorado and was able to travel full time in the US in a motor home for 7 years. During her time in Colorado Springs, she was active in the local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) chapter. Her extensive research in genealogy for the Clarkson, Milner and Furnish families resulted in establishing her ancestor’s involvement in the Revolutionary War. She loved doing this research and her travels would be centered around her research.
She loved being a mother, wife, grandmother, and great grandmother. Square dancing was one of her favorite activities. In her travels she enjoyed square dancing throughout western states and looked forward to meeting and making new friends. She enjoyed many years selling products for Tupperware,
Home Interiors, Park Lane and Herbal Life. In addition, she was excited to have earned her real estate license and sold real estate for a couple of years.
Everyone’s most quoted comment about Mary was her beautiful smile. Her smile would light up the room.
