James "Jim" Clyde Potter Jr. died unexpectedly in Lutheran Hospital on November 15th, 2021 at the age of 72.

Jim is survived by his wife Linda Marie Potter (Discoli), children Michael Potter and his wife Jen of Broomfield, Jason Tavano and his wife Beth of Commerce City, Heather Potter and her husband Derek of Thornton, and Christopher Tavano and his wife Carly of Wheat Ridge.  His brothers Steve and Robert Potter of Seattle Washington as well as his many grandchildren, Ashleigh, Michael, Derek, Thomas, Macee’, Mason, Payton, Addison, Giuliana, and Sofia.  He is preceded in death by his Parents James and Phyliss Potter, sister Sue and brother Richard all from Washington.

Jim was born on February 16th, 1949 in Seattle, Washington.  At the age of 20, he enlisted into the Army and served honorably until being discharged in 1975.   He eventually relocated and ended up in Colorado.

Jim was accomplished in carpentry and remodeling.  He started his own company “JCP” construction and worked tremendously on honing his skills and talents to be successful.  He was always busy on independent jobs as well as working for the Denver Urban Renewal Authority.  He recently retired and has spent much of his time with his wife, children and grandchildren.  Jim loved the outdoors, camping, and site seeing.  His favorite spot to spend some time was in Estes Park with his wife Linda, looking for the elk to come out.  What Jim really loved the most, was being a Papa to his grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on November 24th, 2021 at St. Paul’s Community Church located at 8001 W. 23rd Ave. in Lakewood, Colorado.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of our “Papa Jim”.
