Obituary of Scott Price

   Scott Price went to be with his Lord on November 5, 2021.  He was at home surrounded by his loving family.  We know he’s with Jesus, but nevertheless our hearts are grieved.

Scott is survived by his wife of 43 years, Annelle Price, seven children: Brian Price of Portland, Oregon; Steve Price of Gresham, Oregon; Eric Price of Maricopa, Arizona; Frank Price of Fountain, Colorado; Renee Plankeel of Colorado Springs; Don Price of Colorado Springs; Mary Grussendorf of Laramie, Wyoming; 16 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

He was the middle child born on November 12, 1948 in Hood River, Oregon to Don and Velma Price who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Donna Hodge, of Yuma, Arizona and brother, Todd Price, of Vancouver, Washington.

He decided to follow Jesus at the age of six. Growing up, he learned to work at a young age delivering the Oregonian morning paper, maintaining his own paper route.  He attended David Douglass High School in Portland, Oregon.  After graduating high school, he was a Distributor for The Oregonian newspaper.  Later he became an owner operator of a petroleum company. In 1975 he decided to join the US Army and “see the world”.  After 20 years of active-duty service, he retired as a first sergeant with the US Army having a strong sense that the Lord was calling him into something else. Scott was a proud soldier.  Known as a man of integrity, firmness, and kindness, Scott had a strong sense of duty to God and Country.    

After retiring from the Army, Scott and his wife felt called by God to serve as missionaries in Tanzania, East Africa.  They moved to Tanzania with their two youngest children.  Over the next 20 years, Scott and Annelle fell in love with the people of Tanzania and invested their lives in reaching the unreached for Christ.  Scott was instrumental in establishing a training center in Arusha, Tanzania for Christian Missionary Fellowship which was used to train nationals to reach their own people for Christ.  He also partnered with Tanzanians to establish a business that manufactured affordable transportation which blessed rural impoverished villages. 

Scott was an avid golfer, loved to travel, read, and enjoyed Friday nights with family and friends, watching a movie at home and having popcorn. He loved his family, was always ready to encourage and support them in whatever capacity he could. He was a faithful and loving husband, great dad, grandpa and great grandpa. 

In his 73 years on earth, Scott touched so many lives. He was loved by all who knew him.  He made everyone feel welcome, was always up for a good discussion and gave hearty hugs.  He was a loyal and caring friend, teacher, mentor and visionary, and always quick to forgive.  His love for people reached across continents, throughout different careers, and across generations. The last three years found Scott serving in the ministry of Pikes Peak Christian Church. Scott was a strong believer in Jesus and his desire was that others would know Him as he did. His life verse was Acts 20:24, "…I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace." Above all, he considered even his own life to be a worthy sacrifice if a few might come to faith in Jesus Christ.  He was an example to us all.

A private graveside service with full military honors was held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery on the 18^th of November 2021.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on February 12, 2022, at 11 o’clock in the morning at Pikes Peak Christian Church, 4955 Bradley Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80911.  All who knew Scott are welcome.
