BOREN, Gayle Francis, age 82, passed away from natural causes on Monday, November 22, 2021, at her home in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Gayle was born July 22, 1939, in Culver City, California.  She was the only child of Jacob D. Martinez and Trinidad F. Cabrera-Talamantes.

Gayle was living in Los Angeles, California when she enlisted into the Army.  She rose to the rank of Captain before discharged.  She was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she met her husband, William F. Boren.  They were married May 19, 1962, at Hickam Air Force Base on the island of Oahue.  Tragically, William was fatally wounded in a training exercise and died on March 26, 1963, just 9 months after their marriage.

After the death of her husband, Gayle eventually moved back to Los Angeles until 1994 at which time she left California and became a resident of Arvada, Colorado.

She was employed by and retired from Elitch Gardens.  Gayle was a Life Member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 17, in Edgewater, Colorado.  She was very active in raising funds for veteran programs and active military.  She was awarded a Quilt of Valor for her service in the military and as recognition for her endless support of veterans and their families.

Gayle will be interred at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, and will be profoundly missed by her Auxiliary sisters and many good friends.
