Obituary of Roy Eugene Lewey

Roy Eugene Lewey

October 23, 1935 – December 16, 2021

Roy Eugene Lewey, age 86, passed peacefully from this life the evening of December 16, 2021, after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family.

He was born October 23, 1935, in Donnellson, Illinois to Frank and Velma Lewey and Roy had 5 siblings, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Roy proudly served in the Navy, and it was during this time he met his wife Glenda in Patterson, California in 1953 while he was stationed at Crows Landing Naval Base. They were married on New Year’s Eve in 1954 and celebrated 58 years of marriage. They had 4 children (1 daughter and 3 sons) and were fortunate to have experienced life with their family in many states, California, Illinois, Kansas, Ohio, Texas, Indiana, and Colorado.

Roy loved all things outdoors and sports, especially his beloved Denver Broncos. He, his wife, and children were season ticket holders for many years. He loved dogs and there was always a dog or two in the Lewey household. Roy and his wife, Glenda, also loved to travel and especially loved cruising on cruise ships to Mexico and the Caribbean. He was passionate about politics and would zealously argue politics with anyone who would listen.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife Glenda, his parents Frank & Velma, his son Larry, his brother Harold, his granddaughter Nicole, and brother-in-law Raymond.

He is survived by 3 of his children, Connie (Ken) Borucki, Ken (Delores) Lewey and Robert (Caroline) Lewey and grandchildren Derek (Kathleen) Milhousen, Carrie Lewey, Danielle Woll, Kristina (Kevin) Rebman, Jessica (Gary) Wilson, Kady (Cassidy) Ortiz, Ashley Lewey, Jason (Cydney) Barker, Adam (Katie) Lewey, Ken Lewey Jr., Dustin (Veronica) Lewey, Amanda Lewey, Michael Marshall, Taylor Marshall, and many great-grandchildren. Roy is also survived by his brothers Allen (Barbara) and John (Debby) and his sisters Dolores (Lowell) Chuba and Caryle Comoglio.

Memorial services will be held at Mountain View Fellowship Church in Strasburg, Colorado on February 5, 2022 @ 1:00. Refreshments will be served at the church following the service.
