I was fortunate to know Steve for years. First as a member of the Comm Squadron where he was instrumental in guiding young airman. He them became a customer during his time at the AOG. Finally I'd see him in the morning on the days I went to the gym. He was witty and always ready to exchange good humor barbs, talk about sports and life in general. One of the rare honorable and genuine men I was lucky to know both in and out of uniform. Known by many loved by all.

We only learned today the passing of a great friend. I had the privilege to work with Steve for 3 years at the Association of Graduates (AOG) at the Air Force Academy and later we would see Mary and Steve playing what must have been his favorite casino game, video poker at Cripple Creek. Steve and I would always ask each other when Cripple Creek was going to name a street after us meaning we weren’t winners. To Mary and his entire family we will miss seeing Steve in the Creek and I will miss his humor. Steve was an outstanding family man, had an outstanding military career and outstanding career at the AOG. This is how he will always be remembered. To Mary and his family our sincere condolences. Steve will be greatly missed.

My brother in law Steve was one kind, funny, and coolest guy. He loved my sister Mary with all his heart. They were made for each other. I proudest accomplishment was his Children Steve and Irene. They meant the world to him. Then came the grandkids! Steve gave me the nickname of Barney lol ( I don’t know why, I guess I should have asked him.) Love you Steve, you will be missed. Rest in Peace

I was blessed to meet Steve when his daughter Irene married my brother Dan. He looked so proud walking his daughter down the isle. He sure had a sense of humor and had everyone laughing at the reception. Thank you for being a wonderful Father in Law to my brother and an amazing Dad to my Sister In Law.

I was thinking about when I was a teenager listening to my cassette player. Uncle Steve heard it and asked, "are you listening to that hibbidy doo-dah-day bullcrap?
We laughed together and he gave me a hug.
My Uncle Steve is the greatest!

My fondest memories of you dad. First time I met your parents and we played spades or some card game. Your poor dad was stuck with me as a partner. Of course I sucked but your dad took it in stride and had us laughing so hard I couldn't breath. Second favorite memory, he was the least fix it savvy person I ever met and I loved that about him. Steve wouldn't have been Steve if he were handy with tools. I will miss him telling the same joke or story 5 times during our visits. I will miss his stubborn streak. I will miss willingness to speak his mind. Simply put, I will miss him, Steve Knight the man.
