I remember Jim as a classmate at South High School in Denver, where he played music in a band ("Stonebreakers") with another friend of mine who has also passed, Stuart Gray. Jim was well-liked and "fit-in" with everyone and every different "clique" or group. Everyone liked & respected Jim.
It appears he lived a very complete & successful life. Hats off to Jim and sincere condolences to all his family, friends and close associates.
A photo of Jim and his band from South High School - "Stonebreakers" attached. Jim & Stuart are the two in the middle. They were probably about 16 at the time, 17 tops.
RIP

I have so many memories of Jim. Jim and Lynn (my sister) met and started dating as teenagers. They married after Jim's time in the service and shared a wonderful life together. Jim was a warm and loving person with many talents. Everyone that knew him will miss him.

Jim was truly a renaissance man. Not only did he play a huge role in managing the design and build of our award-winning Wynkoop EPA Regional Office building, but Jim was instrumental in building meaningful and lasting coalitions across Agencies, architects and our teams that were really the cornerstone for the pride we all shared as we moved into that gorgeous new building. Always with a twinkle in his eye, a sense of humor, and ultimate patience, Jim drew us together from disparate places and opinions to a common ‘green and sustainable’ ground. His leadership was subtle but impactful -had to be with so many of us ‘in charge’ characters. He was proud of his family, sharing stories and even visits with his son, Mark, on occasion. Most meaningful to me, and I’m sure others at EPA with whom he worked closely, was the treasured friendship we had. As his tributes highlight, Jim truly did make the world a better place.

My heartfelt condolences to Jim’s family; may your memories bring you peace in time. It was an honor to work with Jim while he helped EPA on our new building/lease. He acted with integrity and professionalism with people at all levels of the organization. He listened intently to all of our crazy thoughts and ideas, never dismissing or belittling anyone. He was circumspect and his counsel was always studied and wise. What I appreciated most was his wry sense of humor and ability to diffuse tense situations with ease. He always will be remembered with fondness by everyone at EPA.

Oh, no... Who else could have marshalled the array of individual forces in the EPA workforce and somehow made it all work?
My favorite memory of Jim was the look on his face when he was informed by a member of management that we absolutely would not call the employee led workgroups as "SWAT teams". With more than a little attitude as I recall. If ever there was a textbook look of dumbfounded, it was Jim's. MAT (Move Action Team) was decided upon as the politically correct replacement. Jim and I had a good laugh over that one; as well as a good eye rolling.
Rest easy, Jim, in the knowledge that you made a huge difference in the lives of all of us in EPA.

Jim was EPA Region 8s' architect for our new, LEED-certified office building - a building that showed us walking our talk! With all the work on his plate, he still was approachable and friendly, answering questions calmly and competently. What a good sport he was surrounded by engineers, scientists and lawyers, many with opinions on renewable energy and energy efficiency. He dealt with us all with grace, humor and modesty. We were very proud of that building!

Jim was such a special soul - always ready with a joke and a friendly word, even in the bleakest of blizzards while doing a major move. For me, Jim was a mentor and friend and I so enjoyed working with him. He made the worst of complications seem easy to unravel. He even taught me to use GANNt charts - no mean feat, that. My deepest condolences on the passing of this lovely. lovely man.

My deep condolences to Lynn, Mark and Janet on the loss of Jim. I greatly enjoyed working with Jim at EPA on office space design. He was that most appreciated combination of traits in a colleague. Smart, professional, dedicated, and knowledgeable, sure, but more importantly, that joyful twinkle in his eye, sense of humor and appreciation of life. Cherish your memories. DJ Janik

So many memories, what an incredible man Jimmy and I shared so many things, we were classmates, bandmates, roomates,, and mainly friends. I know he's driving his 67 red malibu, and playing his green sparkle double bass Ludwig drumset, with "ROCK CANDY on the heads in heaven. Jimmy, I miss you my friend, my prayers go out to your wonderful wife, and my friend Lynn, and your son.

I will always remember Uncle Jim’s smile and lighthearted demeanor. He was such a positive person, and reminded us all to look at the bright side of things. I remember going to their house and having all the good snacks and him painting seasonal art on our fingernails. He was an incredible artist and loved life and the his whole family. I don’t think I can remember a time that he was angry or upset- he just wasn’t that person. My mom, his sister, was awaiting his arrival, as he ascended to the next world, to be with the rest of the family that loved and adored him. He will be missed in this world but his spirit will carry on and is all around. I love you Aunt Lynn and Mark ❤️
