Mark Allen Wimmler

 

September 15, 1958 to January 23, 2022

 

 

Mark Allen Wimmler, passed away in his home in the company of his life partner, Katherine Gericke, on January 23, 2022. He was a beloved son, brother life partner, friend and colleague.

 

He is survived by his father, Charles A. Wimmler (Lt Col, USMC, Ret.), and step-mother Julia (Johnson) Wimmler; sisters Robbin (Wimmler) Sawyer (Maj, USAF, Ret). and Laura (Wimmler) Allen, and their husbands Mark and Jimmy; brothers Peter and David Wimmler (MSgt, USAF, Ret.); step-sisters Gail Galligan and Sallie Rosa, as well as five nieces, two nephews and a grandniece. He was preceded in death by his mother, Annette (Stopka) Wimmler in 2003.

 

Born in Kingsville, TX, he traveled to many states in our country (CA, NC, FL, LA) as a USMC dependent, joining the USAF in 1977. He served as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at Carswell AFB, TX, and Castle AFB, CA. After over 15 1/2 years of service, he separated from the Air Force at the grade of Staff Sergeant. He then pursued various endeavors from postal worker, dance and ballet performer, silver jewelry crafter and water treatment plant worker. For love of his four-legged “family”, he followed his partner “Kara” to Fountain, Colorado, in 2007. wmlhere his love of music took him to St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. There he found his niche serving God and neighbor through music ministry. He will be greatly missed by family and friends for his love, patience and generosity.

 

As a disabled veteran, he has earned the honor of burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, with full military honors, which will take place on April 11, 2022 at 1315 hours.
