I had the pleasure of knowing Don and being his friend for nearly 50 years. He was the administrative officer at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Denver Wildlife Research Center for a few years while I was there until he developed a health problem and retired as a result. I always thought of Don as a very good guy. We nearly always remembered each others birthdays and sent greetings. He even came all the way to Vienna, Austria, to see me when I was working there. Well.....he was on a train excursion so he only traveled from southwestern Austria to Vienna. I really thought that was special even though I knew he enjoyed the scenic journey.
We retirees of the Denver Wildlife Research Center greatly appreciate that he kept track of us and arranged lunches to keep us in touch with each other--until covid!
We will miss you, Don--for now! Thanks for your service to our country and to each of us.
