Obituary of Erika Maria (Hartung) Somers

   Erika Maria (Hartung) Somers was born January 4, 1940 in Wurzburg, Germany to Edgar Josef Hartung and Serafine Olga (Muller) Hartung.  She had a smile that would brighten every room she entered. She never knew a stranger and had a heart so full of love that it brightened the lives of everyone she touched.  Despite all the love she had in her heart, it had no more to give and she left us on the morning of February 18, 2022 surrounded by her loving family and in her husband’s arms.

She is survived by her beloved husband Bill of 60 years, 4 children; Andrea Peterson (Dave), Eric (Jarda), Mike, Pete (Robyn), 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  Many nieces and nephews both in the United States and Germany.  She is preceded in death by her parents Edgar & Serafine Hartung and her sisters, Helga Reidmann and Hannelore Brueckmann. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colorado Springs, CO.  Interment will be at Pikes Peak National Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Erika M. Somers to Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Al Kaly Shrine, PO Box 193, Pueblo, CO 81002 in honor of her granddaughter Shelby.
