Obituary of Harold "Bud" Wilbur Rathjen

   Harold "Bud" Wilbur Rathjen, age 97, passed away on May 15, 2022 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on October 10, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa to Henry Shannon Rathjen and Margaret DeVine Rathjen. 

Preceding Harold in death are his parents; Henry and Margaret Rathjen, wife of 42 years, Svahniel "Swanny" Rathjen and son, Harold Henry Rathjen. 

Those left behind to cherish Bud's memory are son, George "Scott" Rathjen, daughter-in-law, Bridget Sheets Rathjen and grandson, Jake H. Rathjen. 

Bud honorably served his country in the United States Army for a total of 25 years and fought in World War II and the Korean War. He retired when he was enlisted to go to Vietnam with the rank of CW4.

An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed tending to his roses in his garden; Bud also enjoyed bowling, gambling and was always seen at the Blackjack table. 

A military memorial service will take place at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
