Obituary of Israel James Mascarenas

Israel James Mascareñas passed away on June 17, 2022 at the age of 36, in Denver, Colorado. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Israel came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Israel was born to Jeffrey and Diana Mascareñas (Aguilar) in Colorado Springs in 1985. After graduation, Israel joined the United States Air Force. He served his country with honor and distinction overseas as a USAF Firefighter.  Israel truly made the world a better place. He would befriend many people over the years working downtown Colorado Springs at his grandparents restaurant "El Taco Rey".

He would inspire countless people to be positive, enjoy life, and always choose peace, familia and love. He reminded everyone to enjoy the small things that made life worth living. Israel had a heart of gold; our lives will continue to be blessed by the memories of his bright eyes and perfect smile, jokes and welcoming heart.

Israel is survived by his wife Zoraida and their daughter, Zella. His father, Jeffery (Darlene); sister Lenae Diaz and family. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends and colleagues.  He is preceded in death by his mother Diana Aguilar (2022), and his grandparents, Edumenio Gilbert Aguilar (2018), Rosemary Barela Aguilar (2021), and Vivan Lee Mascareñas (2016).
