Obituary of Christine Fournier Zamora

Christine "Chrisie"  Fournier Zamora

Christine “Chrisie” Zamora passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Swedish Medical Center in Denver Colorado surrounded by family. She was 57.

Born Carole Christine Fournier on April 1, 1965, in Aurora, Colorado, Chrisie moved between Michigan and Colorado with her parents as a child until the family eventually settled in Arvada, Colorado. Chrisie chose Colorado as her home and lived there until her passing. She loved to take rides in the mountains, with Trailridge Road and Estes Park being among her favorite trips - she’d always get some saltwater taffy from one of the little shops in Estes Park.

Chrisie married Patrick Zamora May 27, 1984 and together they had their son, Larin Zamora, on March 10, 1985. The family lived in several cities in the Denver area - most recently in Littleton.

Chrisie earned her Bachelor's degree in information technology from Metropolitan State College in Denver in December, 2002. She loved math and computer science and worked in technical support at Qwest where she patiently helped people reset their passwords - and worked on other support issues - for several years. During her life, Chrisie also worked in the banking industry and as an administrative assistant. She was the source of knowledge for all things computer or math-related for the family until her health got in the way of her quick wit and excellent memory.

Crafting was something Chrisie loved her whole life - she took great joy in making things, especially as gifts. Every Christmas, she’d make everyone in the family a Muppet-themed calendar with birthdays and anniversaries, so we’d never forgot to send out a card or email. She was excellent at cross stitch and sewing and made clothes and Halloween costumes for her nieces, nephews and son. Every one of her sisters and both her parents had giant, clothed rabbits that she’d sewn. Even when her eyesight became poor due to her health issues, she still found a way to craft and be creative and loved visiting craft stores.

Her love for animals was evident in her love for her cat Gracie. Chrisie loved all cats, but Gracie was her soulmate. She also had a dog, Blackie, who she loved dearly. She also enjoyed watching the squirrels and birds outside her home and visited with the community birds that lived in her building.

Chrisie loved the Muppets - Kermit the Frog in particular. She was curious, wicked-smart at math and loved Mexican food. She had the Fournier sense of humor and ability to speak fluent sarcasm. She used to dance to The Hustle with her friends and put on impromptu KISS impersonation concerts with her sisters. Even after her decades-long health struggles, Chrisie was always quick to laugh and make jokes.

Chrisie is preceded in death by her father, Charles, as well as her grandparents. She is survived by her mother, and namesake, Carol; sisters Virginia, Jill, Donna, Cherie and Kim; her son, Larin and daughter-in-law Stacey; her husband, Patrick; nieces and nephews Jean Galllegos; Igor, Vadim, Lera and Zhenya Waite; Katana and Soleil Smith; and Colton Bressette.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 28th at the clubhouse at Tallyn’s Reach at 24900 E Park Crescent Drive, Aurora, CO 80016 at 2:00 pm mountain time. Please dress casual and wear green or anything Muppet related if you are so inclined.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Donor Alliance, Cat Care Society , The Allstate Foundation or the charity of your choice. Chrisie always wanted to travel more, but her health made that prohibitive. So, in her memory, please find solace in creating and travel whenever you are able - and always get the taffy.
