Obituary of Ann Patricia Ellis

Ann Patricia Ellis, 72 of Broomfield, CO ended her life journey November 26, 2022, in the comfort of her home. She was the second of four children, born April 14th, 1950, in Olean, NY to Edward and Joan (Driscoll) Miller.

Ann was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Those fortunate enough to have a friendship with Ann knew she was a considerate, and kindhearted person. Ann had a caring nature and a beauty that emanated so brightly from within that it could be felt by anyone in her presence. Ann’s family moved from the comfort of New York to New Mexico when she was seven, where her family lived in an Adobe house. Growing up in the great open desert she developed an appreciation for the basics of life. Her parents enrolled her in ballet, tap, and ballroom dance, which she loved and excelled at. She would later move back with her family to the Rochester, New York area, finishing high school, marrying, and having two children John and Amanda. During this time, she worked outside the home while being an attentive mother and staying active with activities such as Jiujitsu, softball and bowling. She also loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting. With the dissolution of her first marriage Ann would find the West calling her back, this time to Colorado. The first year in Colorado would bring a few moves only to settle into what would become her forever home in Broomfield, Colorado. Ann was not one too shy of challenging work. She held multiple jobs and on more than one occasion at the same time, to provide for her household. Ann would find a career at the Rocky Flats Plant, lasting 16 years, building lasting friendships and finding a job that was a challenge physically and mentally. Ann met and built a life she loved with her soul mate Norman Ellis. Ann was passionate about learning new things and became a Certified SCUBA diver. She loved sewing but also added in the skills of spinning her own wool using a loom and weaving rugs or blankets. The artwork that Ann had woven was on display at the Otero Museum in La Junta, Co. She would later repair an 1880’s sock maker and knitted socks with it. Her desire to learn later in life led her to become proficient in using firearms, associated with the Well-Armed Women, and get her HAM radio license. Ann was grounded in her Catholic faith and attended church at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Northglenn.

She is survived by her devoted companion and husband Norman, sibling Mark and wife Anita Miller, son, and daughter in-law John and Monique Strassner, daughter and son in-law Amanda and Joshua Mitchell. Eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Edward and Joan Miller, sister Lisa Miller, brother Jeffery Miller, and first husband John Strassner SR.

A Memorial / Celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, in Colorado at 7601 Grandview AVE Arvada CO 80002. From Noon to 4PM. New York Service and Burial will be held April 14th, 2023, at ST. Bonaventure Cemetery, ST Bonaventure, NY.
