Dear Karen, Family and Friends -
We have such fond memories of Dick. A favorite of ours is from our wedding day. My dad, Frank Mestecky really enjoyed his friendship with Dick and in the posted photo you can see that Dick was doing his best to get him laughing - mission accomplished as always! That is how we will remember him, a loving friend with a great smile and laugh.
Karen, Dick and family have been fantastic neighbors and friends to our family since they built their beautiful home in Wheat Ridge. We wish you peace, and joyful memories.

My dear Karen, I'm truly sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved husband, Dick. May the love of God and the peace of the Holy Spirit be with you and your family and give you the peace and comfort needed to help you through this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are always with you. Remembering the words of Saint Paul, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".
Love and prayers,
Frank Logan

Dear Karen and Family,
How fortunate our family has been to be your neighbors - and friends - from the time your house was built right up to this minute!
While my parents, Frank and Bert are no longer with us, I am sure they are enjoying a "cold one" (or two) with Dick.
One of my earliest memories of Dick is when he, my Dad and the other gentlemen on our lateral would get together to clean out the irrigation ditch each spring. Afterwards, muddy and tired, they would all gather on our back porch, where the wives were waiting with coffee and doughnuts; Dick would hold court, filling everyone in on ditch operations for the year.
As a peer of Greg and Brad, and babysitter to Allison, one of my favorite memories of Dick was buying my first car. Dad was hunting, and like all teenagers, I just couldn't wait when the car of my dreams became available. This was long before cell phones, so there was no way to get in touch with Dad; Mom knew Dick would make sure I got a good deal, and he took on the responsibility. Dick did a great job, and I drove that car until it was time to switch to a more family-friendly model...
Fast forward a few years, and now my husband, two children and I are living in the house next to Dick and Karen. For several years, the Easter Bunny (aka Dick) would come up VERY early in the morning, so eggs would be scattered around the yard when the kids got up.
We're blessed to have so many more memories - Dick was one of a kind - how lucky all of our family has been to know him, and continue our friendship with the O'Neil's.

To my extended O’Neil family, our loving thoughts are with you, as you celebrate the beautiful life of Dick O’Neil. My grandpa, William T O’Neil will be there greeting him to his home sweet home. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful obituary. You could tell it was written from the heart.
May God bless you all,
Wendy Stanek (Irene O’Neil’s oldest daughter)
