Obituary of William Don Chamberlin

William ‘Bill’ Don Chamberlin passed away peacefully at the age of 92 while at the Colorado State Veterans Home at Fitzsimmons in Aurora, Colorado on February 22, 2023.

Bill was born on October 31, 1930 in Ogden, Utah to William Arthur Chamberlin and Rachel Isabel Henderson.

As a child, his family moved from Ogden to Logan, Utah and he graduated from Logan High School in 1949. He attended one year of college at Utah State University before joining the U.S. Navy at the start of the Korean War. He went on to serve with the First Marine Division in combat during the Korea War and was twice awarded the Purple Heart.

Prior to serving in Korea, Bill married Derry Rae Merrill on October 13, 1951 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they were blessed with four children.

He graduated from Utah State University in 1958 and then went on to graduate from the University of Colorado where he studied physical therapy.

Bill worked as a physical therapist in the Denver area for 42 years. He was avid traveler and especially loved to visit the American southwest. He was proud of his military service and loved his country. He worked with veteran advocacy groups to help his fellow service members.

When his daughter Mindy was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in 2014, Bill was by her side until she passed in 2015. He also supported Mindy’s husband Marion and their family during Marion’s fight with cancer until his passing in 2016.

Bill is survived by his children William David Chamberlin, Stacy Simpson, Dana Lindley, and 12 grandchildren and 20 great-children. Bill’s sister Barbara passed away in 2021.

Funeral services will be held at the Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023.
