Obituary of Carol Stearns

Carol Stearns 

Carol Stearns was born June 27, 1950 to Mary Lou Najar and Donald Zapien in San Jose, California.  Second born of six children, she is survived by her five siblings, Mary Lou Dahl, Susan (Husam) Nijmeh, Aurther Zapien, Donald (Jennifer) Zapien, and Michael Zapien, two children, Adam (Susan) Stearns and Lisa Lair, and two grandsons, Ben Stearns and Jack Stearns. 

Carol married Lee Stearns in 1969 and they moved from San Jose to Arvada Colorado in 1973.  Carol began her teaching career at Denver Public Schools in 1986 and soon earned her Master’s Degree.  Lee and Carol moved to Denver in 1988, and she retired from Denver Public Schools after 24 years in 2010.

Carol loved God and her family, entertaining and cooking for friends, watching and re-watching movies, reading, learning to paint, writing and editing, thrifting, travel, and caring for many dogs through the years.

Carol passed away suddenly on March 19, 2023.  Her darling Lee, husband of 46 years and both her parents preceded her in death. 

Services will be held at Ft. Logan on Good Friday, April 7^th at 11:00 a.m. at Staging Area A.  Reception immediately to follow at their family home, details will be released at the service.
