Obituary of James Herbert Evanoff Sr.

James Herbert Evanoff Sr., age 86, born into eternal life on May 11, 2023 after his long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. October 17, 1936 in Terre Haute, Indiana James was born to father, Dobry Evanoff and mother, Geneva Dale Evanoff. Dobry had immigrated to America from Sofia, Bulgaria in the early 1900’s.

James graduated from his local high school and had completed one year of college before proudly enlisting in the United States Army in 1953. He earned the rank of Staff Sergeant along with being associated with the 82nd Airborne Division and Battery “B” Parachute Field Artillery Battalion in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

After his honorable discharge in 1960 James went on to become a hotel general manager for Holiday Inn’s Inc. for 40 years in many cities throughout the United State as well as a general manager for Choice Hotels (Clarion Hotel’s and Comfort Inn Hotel’s) for 10 years in Rock Springs, Wyoming and Phoenix, Arizona before his retirement.

Throughout Jame’s life he proudly was affiliated with the 82nd Airborne Division Association, 82nd ABN Chapter Denver, Colorado, Past President of Phoenix Valley of the Sun 82nd ABN Chapter and a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Security, Colorado.

Preceding in death are parents Dobry Evanoff, Geneva Dale Evanoff and five half sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Niculletta Lucille (Clunie) Evanoff of Fountain, Colorado, daughter Yvonne (Larry Clarke) Evanoff of Fountain, Colorado, son James Herbert Evanoff Jr. of Fountain, Colorado, daughter Cheryl Lynn (Evanoff) Clarke of Lawrenceville, Georgia, granddaughter Ashley Niculetta Evanoff of Miami, Florida, great-grandson Mekhi Ashton Evanoff of Miami, Florida, grandson Tyler James Clarke and his spouse, great granddaughters Lyla Rae Clarke and Everly Clarke of Lawrenceville, Georgia and grandson Travis Patrick Clarke of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

A committal service with United States Army Honors will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 11:30AM
