Obituary of Dennis Leon Myers

Dennis Leon Myers 77 of Thornton, Colorado, passed away at home on January 22, 2024, surrounded by his family in the care of hospice.  His life, defined by unwavering dedication and love for his family, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Born to Theodore and Wilma Myers on July 29, 1946, in Des Moines, IA, he grew up surrounded by family that instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and love that he passed on to his children.

Dennis’ service in the US Navy during Vietnam as a diesel mechanic was a testament to his commitment to his duty and proficiency in his craft.  After his military service he served as a reserve police officer in Commerce City Colorado, eventually landing in the commercial refrigeration industry where he worked until he retired.  Throughout his refrigeration career he was respected and admired for his meticulous work ethic and passion, while setting a high standard of excellence, which earned him the respect and friendship of colleagues.

Dennis was not only a dedicated professional but a devoted family man.  In 57 years of marriage, he shared a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure with his wife Kathryn.  Their enduring partnership was a beacon of strength and an inspiration to all who knew them.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dennis earned a black belt in Judo while competing and coaching younger students.  He also had a love and admiration for old cars, frequently attending local car shows.

Sadly, Dennis was preceded in death by two sons, an infant, and Paul, as well as his parents Theodore and Wilma and his younger sister Diane.  While their absence leaves a void, the memories they created together will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

Dennis is survived by his wife Kathryn, three children, Michelle, Jennifer and Jeffrey, 5 grandchildren, one great grandchild, his older sister Jan, and numerous extended family members that all mourn his passing while cherishing his legacy of love, resilience and joy he leaves behind.

Dennis will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in a private family service.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday February 9, 2024, at 12:30pm at the VFW Post 7945 located at 10217 Quivas St, Thornton, CO  80260.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dennis’ memory to AccentCare  Hospice, or to the American Cancer Society.

As we say goodbye to Dennis, let us remember the warmth of his smile, the strength of his character, and the enduring love that will continue to guide and inspire those who were privileged to know him.  May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with the loved ones who went before him, and may his legacy continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all those who mourn his loss.
