Obituary of Jessie Wilbur Gieger III

Jessie was born on September 12, 1945 in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

 

He was born to parents Jessie Wilbur Gieger, Jr, and Dorothy Sibley-Gieger. He attended Natchitoches High School. He is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anita, Mother Dorothy Hamm of Arkansas, Sister Audreen Gieger of Texas, half-brother Kenneth Hamm from Texas, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

He enlisted in the Air Force in 1963 and served until 1971 with an honorable discharge. While in the service, he received his GED, then served in the Vietnam War in 1964-65. In 1967, he met and married Anita. He joined the Local # 9 Sheetmetal Workers. After 5 years as an apprentice, he became a journeyman in the field. After several years he also became a Local #208 Pepefitter. As a pipefitter, he did IT and HVAC work on high-rise buildings in and around Denver until he retired.

 

Jess and Anita spent time during their marriage traveling to many cities in the U.S. and made four trips to Hawaii with family. A trip on a cruise that took Jess and Anita to Denmark and around the Black Sea ending in London. Jess and Anita also enjoyed riding their motorcycles in and around Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota. Jess was a great cook, always making his Cajun dishes of Dirty Rice, Blackened Catfish, Gumbo, Jambalaya, and Fried Turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Jess did so many things for his family and friends. He will be forever loved and forever missed.
