Obituary of Glendora "Glen" Reed

It is with great sadness that we must announce the graduation of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Glendora Reed, 75, to heaven from home, on 26 February 2024, following a tough and courageous battle with lung cancer.

Glen, was born in Jack, Coffee County, Alabama, on a hot southern Sunday afternoon, of 30 May 1948.

Her mother was Della Mae Bryant. She was the oldest of three children. Her twin brothers are Randolph (wife Patsy), of Louisville, KY and Rudolph of DeFuniak Springs, Florida.

Glen was proud to say she was a southerner, and you knew it right away by her distinctive accent the minute she spoke.

Glen’s mother, Della Mae, passed away when her brothers were born and her maternal grandmother, Effie Bryant, raised all three children. She attended schools in Elba, Alabama. And, at a young age, she moved and lived with her aunt Gladys (Bryant) Bingham, in Columbus, Georgia.

She met the love of her life, Charles Vernon Reed, in Columbus, Georgia; and on the humid late summer Wednesday afternoon of 5 August 1964, they were united in marriage at Phenix City, Russell County, Alabama.

She was the mother of Adam Charles Reed and Katrina Sue (Reed) Weldon. And she followed her husband around the world as he served in the U.S. Army; traveling to Germany and Japan as well as to numerous other assignments around the continental United States.

Glen is survived by her loving husband, Charles, her daughter Katrina (husband JR Weldon), of Colorado Springs, her daughter-in-law Kathy (late wife of Glen’s son, Adam) of Lone Tree, Colorado, and grandson Alias (wife Katie, great granddaughters Rose and Amelia and great grandson Colton) of Colorado Springs.

She is predeceased by her son, Adam Charles, granddaughter Kyrstin Glendora Marie Weizenegger and grandson Adison Reed.

Glen leaves a legacy of being an incredible loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a list of skill sets as long as your arm. Her cooking alone is worthy of Blue Ribbons on three continents. As a mother she served in scouting programs in Japan, as Den Mother and wife of the Cubmaster.

Her knowledge and expertise in the horticulture industry, including flowers, trees, shrubs and landscaping, earned her recognition as a Colorado Certified Nursery Professional by the Colorado Nursery and Greenhouse Association.

Throughout Glen’s life, Her Christian faith was prominent and took first place. Glen attended churches and military chapels all around the world, and she was a member of Legacy Wesleyan Church of Colorado Springs (now Story Church Colorado), serving on the Local Board of Administration and as leader of the Young @ Heart Fellowship. Her chief ministry was comforting and encouraging others. She was a born-again life-long encourager of the caliber of Barnabas.

As matriarch, Glen’s family also held a leading priority in her life. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, as well as by numerous friends and kindred folks far and wide.

There will be a viewing on Tuesday, (5 March 2024), from 3 PM to 5 PM at All Veterans Funeral & Cremation, 1020 East Fillmore, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.

A memorial service celebrating Glen’s life will be held at Story Church Colorado, 502 North Walnut Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80905, at 2 PM, on Saturday, 16 March 2024.

If God is all you have…

you have all you need.
