Obituary of Dennis O'Rorke

Dennis O’Rorke, a loving, sweet husband of 32 years, went home to be with Jesus on November 19, 2020. He was faithful, finished the race, and met His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Since there is a promise of the resurrection and being reunited again one day, there is comfort.

 

He served in the Army after being drafted in 1965. He grew up in Carteret, NJ. He lived in Colorado Springs for 23 years. Surviving relatives in NJ are his sister-in-law Evelyn O’Rorke; nephew Danny O’Rorke; niece Michele O’Rorke Roedema and her children; Jesse Roedema, his wife, and children; and Christina Dalton, her husband, and children.

 

Dennis was self-employed as a carpenter in NJ, where he created beautiful gazebos and decks. He was quite talented. He also was employed as civilian carpenter on Fort Carson. During his last job, he was employed with District 11. There he enjoyed singing to the kids and telling them jokes while driving them to and from school. Even as the kids got older and entered high school, they would stop and say hello when they saw him.

 

Dennis enjoyed a good Christian movie, fishing, playing chess, acting in plays though Act III, doing magic tricks, and spending time with friends and family. He read his Bible daily and always made time to share the Gospel. He was an usher at Radiant Church and loved praising God with his flag at Etz Khayim.

 

He liked going on nature walks with his wife, Pat, and granddaughter, Eliana O’Rorke. He always looked forward to taking her to the park each weekend. Eliana will miss Pop Pop playing the harmonica for her and making her giggle.

 

He loved his daughters, Mikaela O’Rorke and Katie O’Rorke, dearly. Katie will miss going fishing with her father and playing Nancy Drew mystery games together. Mikaela will miss playing chess with her dad. Both Mikaela and Katie have wonderful memories of their dad. He was always praying for them and helping when he could. He truly enjoyed spending time with them every chance he got, and never missed an opportunity to teach them new things. He always wanted the very best for them. He was an excellent father and provider for his family.

 

His wife will miss his smile, his laughter, his good morning greeting each day, his kisses, holding his elbow when they walked together, praying together each evening, and dancing in the kitchen. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. A gentle, kind man with a huge heart of love. Heaven is rejoicing for a saint has come home. However, he will be missed every minute of every day by his wife, daughters, and friends. One day all of God’s children will be  reunited in the Kingdom of God with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In this there is hope because of the redemption and resurrection of Jesus Christ by His precious blood that was shed on the cross.

 

Services will be held at Radiant Church on December 17^th, 2020 at 11:15 a.m., 4020 Maizeland Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80909
