John Atencio Sr.

John Atencio (Johnny, Sr.)  passed away peacefully and went Home to the Lord and his wife, Cecilia Atencio, on September 26, 2022.  John was born June 4, 1935 and is survived by his son Leonard, John Atencio, Jr. (Johnny, Jr.), and his dog Frankie.  John was the son of John and Neva.  John is the last of 14 brothers and sisters.

John was a hard worker his whole life who loved his wife and children most of all.  He took care of his family, always providing a roof over their heads, food on the table, clothes on their backs, celebrating his wife and children’s birthdays, all the holidays, and all the needs for the family.  He, along with his wife, did all the yard work, worked on the house.  They kept a beautiful yard and home.  John and Cecilia were great cooks and bakers and always cooked to celebrate the holidays.  John was very kind, caring, loving, forgiving, a great listener, a wonderful sense of humor, and laughed a lot.  He was always giving what he could to those who were in need, those who were suffering, downtrodden, and just down on their luck.  John was also known, when anyone would visit the house, for sending them away with a “care package.”  He would always offer help, and if he could not, he would find someone to help them.  He was a wonderful man and will be missed.

We honor John Atencio for his service to our country.  Cecilia will be intermed with John.  They were married for 69 years.
